Congratulations to University of Maryland, Baltimore Assistant Vice President of Public Safety/Chief of Police Thomas Leone for being named one of this year’s Higher Education/Healthcare Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.

Here are some of his notable achievements:

Develop a diversity, equity, and inclusion task force that meets regularly with him and develops solutions to ongoing challenges.
Department received dual accreditation for professional excellence in public safety from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
Transitioned the department’s 911 system so that police communications operators will be automatically notified about 911 calls that occur on campus.
